Green smoothies are easy to make, so delicious and nutritious! I’ve been making my favorite green smoothie with spinach, orange juice and a banana. I decided to switch it up a little bit and add in flaxseeds.
Flaxseeds contain omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and a variety of vitamins and minerals. Adding flaxseeds to this green smoothie gives you double the fiber, double the protein, increases the amount of vitamin B-6 and vitamin E and provides you with more minerals than you would get if you made this smoothie without those flaxseeds.
This is a very subtle tasting smoothie. The first flavor you’ll taste is the banana followed by the spinach. This smoothie is less sweet than some of the other green smoothies I’ve been posting lately, yet this green smoothie is absolutely delicious, especially since all the flavors really work well together.

Green Smoothie with Spinach & Flaxseeds Recipe
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1/2 cup of orange juice
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 banana
- 1 handful of spinach
- 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseeds
Start by thoroughly washing your spinach leaves.
Then take out your blender or Vitamix and add in your handful of washed spinach leaves. Also add your banana, 1/2 cup of orange juice, 1/2 cup of water and your two tablespoons of ground flaxseeds to your blender.
Blend on high for a minute or two, until thoroughly mixed. You’ll know when it’s done because your smoothie will have a nice consistency and a little texture from the flaxseeds.
Pour your smoothie from your blender into a glass and enjoy immediately.
Note: You can also use a frozen banana instead of a regular banana if you want a colder, creamier smoothie.
