Almond butter, banana & chocolate smoothie!

The recipe I’m sharing today is for my current favorite recipe for a post workout smoothie. This nutritious and delicious smoothie is created by combining almond milk, almond butter, a frozen banana, and of course some vegan chocolate chips because everything is better when chocolate is involved.

Post workout smoothies like this are great because they are easy to make and are ready in minutes. Smoothies, and liquids in general, are digested more quickly and, therefore, the nutrients are able to get to your muscles faster to help with the rebuilding process.

This almond butter, banana, and chocolate smoothie has a good amount of carbohydrates, fat, protein, and dietary fiber. It also contains high amounts of 5 different vitamins and 13 different minerals so you’ll be sure to get everything your body needs after your workout!

Makes 2 cups

Ingredients for almond butter, banana & chocolate post workout smoothie

Almond Butter, Banana & Chocolate Smoothie Recipe

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon of almond butter
  • 1 banana (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 tablespoon of vegan chocolate chips

Simply take the one cup of almond milk, one tablespoon of almond butter, one frozen or fresh banana and your one tablespoon of vegan chocolate chips and put all these ingredients into your blender of Vitamix.

Blend on high for about a minute. If you want the chocolate chips to really be broken down, you may need to blend this all together for a little bit longer. So adjust accordingly.

When the smoothie has been blended to the consistency you want, it’s ready to pour into a glass and enjoy!

Remember that if you are having this as a post workout smoothie, you should try to make sure you have this as soon as possible after your workout. I usually have it about a half hour after I work out. If you are able to have this sometime in the hour following your workout, it will really help your body to get rebuilding those muscles and helping your body to recover from your workout.

This isn’t just a post workout smoothie though. This almond butter, banana and chocolate smoothie can also be enjoyed as a smoothie at any time in the day!

This smoothie will give you 324 calories and 17 grams of fat. It will also give you 44 grams of carbohydrates, 5 grams being from dietary fiber. This smoothie also gives your body over 700 milligrams of potassium and 4 grams of protein.

In terms of vitamins, this smoothie will give you high amounts of five different vitamins. You’ll recieve 11% of your daily vitamin A, 15% of your daily vitamin C, 25% of your daily vitamin D, 29% of your daily vitamin B-6, as well as 67% of your daily vitamin E.

This smoothie will also give you high amounts of 13 different minerals. Some of those include: 7% of your daily iron, 12% of your daily copper, 24% of your daily calcium, and 26% of your daily manganese.
